Fab & Packaging Technician

Why this work matters

Touchdown is engineering modular manufacturing for the chips and memory systems future computing needs. This role helps turn a buyer's physical result into a qualified process or a defensible decision to use an existing supplier. Advanced packaging is our intended first fab class; no production fab is operating today.

Overview

You will operate approved steps on an authorized line under qualified supervision. That means checking material and tool identity before work, following the traveler, recording actual conditions and measurements, and stopping when safety or process limits are crossed. Early involvement may be in procedure review and training before any physical line is authorized.

What you will own

• Run only approved travelers at authorized sites; document setup, measurement, deviations, holds, and handoffs.
• Follow approved travelers for setup, material movement, processing, inspection, and test.
• Record equipment state, recipe version, measurements, deviations, and lot handoffs.
• Stop and escalate out-of-control, unsafe, or undocumented work.
• Verify tool condition, calibration, recipe, and material identity before each controlled operation.
• Help improve written procedures by documenting repeatable setup issues and safe recovery steps.

Technical territory

Cleanroom and ESD practice, material handling, tool setup, recipe checks, gauges, visual inspection, assembly, test, traveler records, lot identity, deviation holds, escalation, and shift handoff.

Representative outputs

• A complete traveler and measurement record another qualified operator can reproduce.
• A complete traveler with material and equipment IDs, measurements, and signoffs.
• A documented hold and escalation when a sample falls outside limits.
• A shift handoff record that identifies completed work, pending measurements, holds, and the next qualified owner.

What success looks like

• Another qualified operator can reconstruct the work from the record.
• No unapproved deviation is passed downstream as accepted material.
• Work is repeatable from the traveler and raw measurements, with no missing identity or signoff.
• Unsafe, out-of-control, or undocumented conditions are held and escalated before work continues.

What you bring

• Hands-on semiconductor, packaging, equipment, test, or precision-manufacturing practice; safe work discipline.
• Hands-on semiconductor, packaging, test, equipment, or precision-manufacturing experience.
• Can follow written procedures and maintain clean, legible records.
• Can use gauges and basic statistical checks under qualified supervision.
• Can recognize when an instruction, material ID, tool state, or measurement does not match the traveler.
• Can communicate a hold and handoff clearly to engineering, quality, and the next operator.

How the role works

• Applications are open; the exact work location, arrangement, compensation, and start date will be discussed during hiring.
• Early work can produce engineering plans and partner comparisons. Hands-on work begins only at qualified, authorized facilities.
• You will work with process, equipment, quality, test, customer, and supplier owners as the scope requires.
