Open role
Fab Facilities, Utilities & EHS Engineer
Why this work matters
Touchdown is engineering modular manufacturing for the chips and memory systems future computing needs. This role helps turn a buyer's physical result into a qualified process or a defensible decision to use an existing supplier. Advanced packaging is our intended first fab class; no production fab is operating today.
Overview
You will map proposed processes and tools to the real capacities and controls of a candidate site. That includes power, cooling, water, gases, exhaust, chemical handling, waste, fire protection, and emergency response. Your early result is a gap and cost assessment; physical work waits for qualified facility, permit, and safety approvals.
What you will own
- Review candidate power, water, gases, exhaust, air, waste, fire, chemical, and worker-safety controls.
- Map each candidate process and tool to power, cooling, water, gas, exhaust, waste, and fire controls.
- Work with qualified site, EHS, permit, and utility owners on gaps and cost.
- Set stop conditions for unsafe chemistry, unavailable capacity, or unqualified facilities.
- Review credible upset scenarios and identify the instrument, interlock, procedure, or no-go decision each requires.
- Compare site upgrades and external qualified capacity on cost, schedule, risk, and operator readiness.
Technical territory
Utility loading and redundancy, cleanroom classification, contamination control, hazardous material inventory, gas monitoring, exhaust treatment, wastewater, fire protection, ergonomics, contractor control, permitting, and emergency response.
Representative outputs
- A site and tool utility/EHS gap assessment with owners, permits, costs, and no-go conditions.
- A site and tool utility matrix with capacity, redundancy, owner, and cost.
- A documented EHS gap assessment and required approvals before physical work.
- A readiness review that identifies each missing approval, capacity gap, owner, cost, and stop condition.
What success looks like
- Candidate routes expose facility constraints before tool or process commitment.
- No site or process is represented as ready without qualified approval.
- Safety and utility limits are visible before a process or tool commitment.
- Qualified owners can accept or reject a site using documented evidence and applicable approvals.
What you bring
- Facility systems and semiconductor/industrial EHS review with qualified site and permit interfaces.
- Designed or operated industrial or semiconductor facilities systems.
- Can interpret tool utility specifications and hazard reviews.
- Can coordinate contractors, permits, emergency response, and worker-safety interfaces.
- Can lead hazard and facility-interface reviews with process, equipment, contractors, and emergency responders.
- Can estimate capacity and operating cost without treating a design drawing as installed capability.
Helpful experience
- Cleanroom and contamination control
- Hazardous gas, chemical, or wastewater systems
- HAZOP or process hazard analysis
- High-purity utility systems
- Fab retrofit and commissioning
How the role works
- Applications are open; the exact work location, arrangement, compensation, and start date will be discussed during hiring.
- Early work can produce engineering plans and partner comparisons. Hands-on work begins only at qualified, authorized facilities.
- You will work with process, equipment, quality, test, customer, and supplier owners as the scope requires.
