Open role
Quality Systems & Supplier Qualification Engineer
Why this work matters
Touchdown is engineering modular manufacturing for the chips and memory systems future computing needs. This role helps turn a buyer's physical result into a qualified process or a defensible decision to use an existing supplier. Advanced packaging is our intended first fab class; no production fab is operating today.
Overview
You will turn customer-critical characteristics into controlled specifications and independent release evidence. The role spans incoming materials, supplier changes, in-process deviations, final acceptance, and corrective action. You will make the reject path as clear as the acceptance path and avoid qualifying a supplier from a quote or a single good sample.
What you will own
- Control specifications, nonconformance, CAPA, audits, supplier acceptance, and independent product release evidence.
- Define document control, CTQs, nonconformance, CAPA, and independent release authority.
- Qualify suppliers using specs, capability, change notification, and incoming acceptance.
- Audit records and ensure failed material cannot be shipped as accepted product.
- Set incoming and outgoing acceptance plans with sample rationale, measurement uncertainty, and accountable reject signers.
- Investigate supplier or process changes across affected lots and verify corrective action before release.
Technical territory
CTQs, specification control, sampling, measurement-system analysis, supplier audits, process capability, change notification, nonconformance, CAPA, traceability, reliability records, and independent disposition.
Representative outputs
- A quality plan with CTQs, supplier controls, hold/reject authority, and corrective-action workflow.
- A quality plan that names specifications, owner, checker, hold, and release evidence.
- A supplier qualification and change-control packet for one critical input.
- A nonconformance case demonstrating containment, root cause, corrective action, effectiveness check, and disposition.
What success looks like
- Rejects and deviations have traceable disposition and accountable owners.
- Customer acceptance rests on measured product evidence.
- No failed or unreviewed material moves downstream as qualified output.
- A supplier change is evaluated against product impact before it enters an accepted route.
What you bring
- Semiconductor quality systems, document control, supplier quality, and statistical methods.
- Built or operated semiconductor, packaging, or precision-manufacturing quality systems.
- Can apply statistical sampling and supplier-quality methods.
- Can lead a cross-functional reject or corrective-action decision.
- Can write clear specifications and acceptance tests that process and supplier teams can execute.
- Can make independent release or reject decisions from measured evidence under schedule pressure.
Helpful experience
- ISO 9001 or IATF 16949 environments
- Supplier audits and reliability qualification
- Advanced packaging quality
- Gauge R&R and capability analysis
- Customer audit preparation
How the role works
- Applications are open; the exact work location, arrangement, compensation, and start date will be discussed during hiring.
- Early work can produce engineering plans and partner comparisons. Hands-on work begins only at qualified, authorized facilities.
- You will work with process, equipment, quality, test, customer, and supplier owners as the scope requires.
Show a real process, tool, workpiece, or product decision you owned, the measurements behind it, and what another team could reproduce.
